Day 01: Arrival Cochin Pick-up and transfer to your hotel. A port town since early centuries, Cochin, also known as the spice coast of India, attracted traders and invaders from the world over. Needless to say, Cochin offers you some fascinating snippets of history and culture. Relax and unwind at the hotel. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise. Day 02: CochinToday you could go for a specially selected sightseeing tour (optional) to explore the many fascinating highlights of Cochin which include - The Jewish Synagogue in what is locally called the Jew Town, St. Francis Church which is the oldest European Church in India, the Santa Cruz Basilica built in 1557 by the Portuguese, the Spice market and the 15th century Chinese fishing nets believed to have been brought by Chinese traders. In the evening, an optional visit to see the famous dance drama of Kerala, the Kathakali. This dance is characterised by some great story telling, amazing costumes and extensive makeup.Overnight stay in hotel. Day 03: Cochin - HouseboatDrive to Allepey to embark on your private houseboat and cruise on the Backwaters, a splendid area full of canals, lakes and coves. Your houseboats or 'Kettuvalloms' are luxurious boats with well appointed bedrooms andensuite bathrooms. You can sunbathe on the deck or observe the palm fringed landscape from your cabins. Apart from the mesmerizing surroundings it's the life along the coast that makes this a fascinating experience. The locals travel in canoes and you will find vegetable sellers, fishermen and other traders bringing household goods, door to door in small wooden boats. As you cruise along the backwaters you can ask your captain to stop atvillages, paddy fields and other places enroute.Overnight on board (Full Board) Day 04: Houseboat - KumarakomDisembark at Kumarakom, the enchanting backwater region of Kerala and check into your hotel. The labyrinthine network of rivers, canals, streams and lagoons which form the famed backwaters offer stunning views and is an idealplace to relax. Day at leisure.Overnight stay in hotel. Day 05: KumarakomSpend the day at leisure in the stunning backwater resort. You can interact withAyurveda physicians at the resort about the 5000 year old ancient medical science of Ayurveda.Overnight stay in hotel. Day 06: Kumarakom - KovalamDrive to Kovalam, one of the most popular beach destinations in Kerala and check into your hotel. Kovalam consists of three adjacent crescent beaches separated by rocky headlands, of which the southernmost, Lighthouse Beach,is the most famous. The Azure waters and favourable climate make Kovalam a favourite year-round destination for beach lovers.Overnight stay in hotel. Day 07: KovalamToday you could choose an optional excursion to Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala and take a sightseeing tour of Horse Palace, Napier Museum and Art Gallery or you could simply spend your day at leisure on the beach.Overnight stay in hotel. Day 08: KovalamDay at leisure on the Beach. Enjoy a Kalaripayattu (martial art of Kerala) performance in the evening.Overnight stay in hotel.
