Camping Holiday package:

Day 1: Arrive Kochi/Ernakulam were our chauffer will drive you to Thattekad  The Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary (as Thattekkad is known now)  is 55 km North-east of Kochi, and check in to Hornbill Camp,The  Hornbill Camp has well appointed Cottage Tents set amidst the forests of Thattekkad. The tents are spacious and are set up taking  into account a high level of luxury  & utility of modern living. En-suite toilet & insect proofing are some of the innovations of the tents at Hornbill camp.   Each  luxury cottage tent has its own private bathroom and an exclusive sit-out.

Activities at the camp: River Kayaking , Birding ,Cycling Expeditions,Village Walks & Plantation Visits.

Day 2: After breakfast continue your activities and also visit Elephant Rescue Centre, Kodanad lies on the southern bank of Periyar to the east of Perumbavoor town – 40 minutes drive away from Hornbill Camp – once the  largest elephant-capturing centre of South India. The  elephant kraal and training centre with its rescued elephants is a big draw for those interested in close encounters of the elephant kind. The session’s highlight is undoubtedly bathing the baby elephants in the river Periyar. Over night stay at the Hornbill.

Day 3: After breakfast proceed towards The Anaerangal Camp - a luxury camp overlooking the spectacular Anaerangal Lake - beckons those in search of a quiet retreat amongst the mountains of Munnar. The camp is ideal for cyclists, trekkers, birders and those simply looking to escape the torrid plains below and the hectic life in today's world. Over night stay there.

Activities:

The treks to the lakeside and to the Phantom's head are rewarding. The high point will always be the sunset trek to ‘Phantom’s Head’ peak to see the spectacular sunsets over the Sahyadri Mountains!

There are fabulous cycling tracks around the Anaerangal Lake and through the tough mountain biking trails - an adventurer's delight!

A walk around the local plantations of cardamom, pepper and other spices gives a close up view of the life in the spice gardens of these hills, aptly called the 'Cardamom Hills'.

One can also hire a local jeep for an adventurous trip to the highest tea estate in the world - Kolukumalai - and visit the local tea factory there.

You can take a walk around the tea estates that abound in this area

For those looking for close interaction with indigenous people, a visit to the muduvan colony can be educative and enlightening, seeing their lifestyle and farming techniques.


Day 4: After breakfast continue with your activities and over night stay there.

Day 5: After breakfast proceed towards Chinnar and Check in to Forest Department's TreeHouse in the forest. From Chinnar a 3 kilometer trek will take you to the tree house, over night stay there.

Day 6: After early breakfast check out from the Tree House and proceed for trekking/sight seeing animals, late after noon proceed towards The Upper Suryanelli camp, set atop a rocky outcrop and over 6000' high in the Western Ghats is both strategically located for those in search of peace, wilderness adventure camps and school camps. The camp overlooks the beautiful tea estates on one side and the Anaerangal Lake with its backdrop of the mountain ranges of the Sahyadris on the other - indeed an ideal location for adventure and learning.The camaraderie and discussions over the camp fire are some of the great take aways from this unforgettable camp.

Day 7: After some trekking proceed towards Kallar and check in to Ela Ecoland, The Green Camp  near Munnar. Relax at the Ela with bonfire dinner.

Day 8: After breakfast proceed for elephant ride and later proceed towards Aanakulam in 4WD Jeep. If you are lucky you might spot wild elephants there. Over night stay at ela ecoland.

Day 9: Relax at Ela ecoland.

Day 10: After breakfast proceed towards Kochin and get dropped there. Tour ends.
