A Week in Ladakh

Day -01:           Arrival Leh by morning flight and transfer to the hotel. Full day of rest for acclimatization to the high altitude of Leh (11,500 ft / 3500 mtrs). Late afternoon   visit the City Centre for an orientation walk followed by a visit to Shanti Stupa.

Day-02:            After leisurely breakfast, visit Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery and Stok Palace Museum.

Day -03:           Full day excursion to Pangong Lake (approx. 300 kms round trip and located on the Indo-China Border), via Chang-la pass (alt: 17370 ft.) After sightseeing and lunch, drive back to Leh, reaching in the late afternoon / evening.

Day -04:           After breakfast leave for Nubra Valley, driving across Khardong-la (alt: 18,380 ft). After descending from the pass, proceed to Tirit / Tegar and check into a fixed camp. Post lunch, sightseeing tour of Sumoor and Samstaling monastery.

Day- 05:           After breakfast visit Deskit, Hundar and the Sand Dunes and the drive back to Leh, reaching in the late afternoon.

Day -06:           Leh-Alchi-Lamayuru-Kargil: (240 kms.): After early breakfast leave for Kargil, en-route sightseeing of Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Magnetic Point and the 11^th century Alchi Choskor. Thereafter, drive on to Kargil, enroute sightseeing the dramatically located Lamayuru Monastery and  the 9-Mtrs. tall rock sculpture of the Maitreya Buddha standing on the roadside, dating back to   the 7^th –8^th century AD. Dinner & overnight at hotel.

Day -07:           Kargil-Sonamarg-Srinagar (205kms): Early departure for Srinagar via Darss, Zojila & Sonamarg.  Drass is famous as the second coldest inhabited place in the world. Here you can also view the famous “Tiger Hill” peak from the roadside. Driving across Zoji-la Pass (11,500-ft. /3,505 m), reach Sonamarg, from where it's a smooth drive to Srinagar through the beautiful Kashmir countryside.
